Troisième tentative de traitement pour les tomettes de la cuisine!
Tout d'abord, j'ai essayé de l'huile et le résultat a été désastreux. L'huile n'a jamais vraiment pénétré et j'ai dû essuyer une grande partie. Puis une fois sèche, elle a donné aux tomettes un aspect très mat qui a fait ressortir toutes les tâches et les imperfections...
Après décapage et nettoyage, j'ai essayé du lait de brillance. Malheureusement, ne sachant pas trop comment l'appliquer, j'ai massacré le travail et je suis revenu à la "case" décapage et nettoyage...
Aujourd'hui, j'en suis à ma troisième tentative. Toujours avec le lait de brillance, mais cette fois-ci appliqué au rouleau. C'est en train de sécher... Verdict dans une heure ou deux... Ben, en tout cas, si ça marche pas, ce coup-ci, je me rase la tête!
Third attempt at treating the old tiles of the kitchen!
First, I tried with oil and the result was a disaster. The oil didn't get in and I had to dry most of it. Once dry, it gave to the tiles a mat aspect and all the imperfections and the spots appeared...
After stripping and cleaning, I tried a shine milk. Unfortunately, I had no idea how to apply it and I made crap. And I had to come back to "square one", stripping and cleaning...
Today, I made my third attempt. With the milk and a paint roller. It's drying... Result in one or two hours... Eh! If it doesn't work this time, I shave my head!

Sensitive area

Nombreux sont ceux qui se sont plaints de nos bancs en bois ne pouvant pas, affectés par leur postérieur endolori, apprécier à leur juste valeur les lignes simples et pures de ces deux petites merveilles de menuiserie. Dommage...
Alors, pour tous ces fessiers sensibles et délicats, nous nous sommes décidés à investir dans des chaises au design tout aussi épuré mais au confort certain. Croupions, troufignons et popotins, réjouissez-vous, les chaises arrivent!
Many people complained about our wooden benches and because of their aching posterior, they couldn't appreciate the quality and the purity of these two wonderful things. Too bad...
Then, for those sensitive and refined buttocks, we decided to invest in chairs with a pure design and also with comfort. Butt and bottom, be happy. The chairs are coming!


Nos chaises ressembleront à cela, enfin, pas tout à fait mais presque.

Barbie-land

En achetant notre nouvelle couette, nous n'avions pas pensé à cela: chaque matin, elle reflète au plafond les rayons du soleil. C'est très intense et plutôt insupportable. A partir de maintenant, il va falloir surveiller la météo et n'utiliser cette couette que par mauvais temps...
When we bought our new duvet, we didn't think about this: every morning, it reflects on the ceiling the sunrays. It's really intense and rather unbearable. In the future, we will have to check the forecast and use this duvet only when the weather is bad...


L'escalier a finalement reçu sa deuxième couche de peinture blanche samedi.
Finally, we applied the second layer of paint on the stairway.


Seule la rampe du bas doit encore être peinte une deuxième fois.
Only the bottom banister is not done yet. Still one layer to paint.

23 jours que la patronne me casse les pieds pour avoir à nouveau le fond noir... Alors, dans un moment d'extrême faiblesse, j'ai cédé... (aucun commentaire ne sera toléré!)
For 23 days, my boss was getting on my nerves because she wanted the black background back... And for a little while, I have been weak, I have accepted... (no comment is allowed here!)

Vroom, vroom!

Depuis longtemps, nous n'avions pas progressé autant! Durant la première semaine de vacances de Regine, nous avons dû en mettre un coup afin de préparer la chambre d'amis pour pouvoir accueillir mes parents la semaine suivante. Puis, à quatre, les choses se sont emballées et plein de choses qui traînaient depuis pas mal de temps ont finalement été faites!
For a long time, the renovation did not progress so much! During the first week of Regine's holidays, we have already made a lot in the attic so we could receive my parents the week after. Then, with four people, the restoration moved forward and many things which were dragging on have been finally done!


Les tomettes de l'entrée ont été patiemment nettoyées. Certaines vont devoir être remplacées.
The tiles of the entrance have been patiently cleaned up. Some of them must be replaced.


Nous nous sommes débarrassés de nos vieilles tables de chevet.
We got rid of our old night tables.


Le grenier a été repeint, de la moquette posée et notre grande armoire montée (et remplie!).
The attic has been repainted, a carpet has been laid and our big wardrobe assembled (and filled in!)



Le vieux vase d'expansion a été remplacé par l'ancien radiateur de la cuisine. Reste à peindre cette partie du grenier/dressing.
The old expansion tank has been replaced by the old radiator of the kitchen. We still have to paint this part of the attic/dressing.



La chambre d'amis à été vidée et nettoyée.
The guest room has been emptied and cleaned.


Une moquette a été posée et les meubles installés.
A carpet has been laid and the furniture installed.


Quatre portes ont été décapées et réparées.
Four doors have been burned off and repaired.




Le seuil et la porte de la cave ont été refaits. Avant, un espace énorme laissait entrer dans la buanderie le froid, les feuilles mortes et même la pluie...
The doorstep and the door of the basement have been restorated. Before, a big gap below the door let get in the laundry room the cold, the dead leaves and even the rain...



La porte de la salle de bains a été raccourcie. Depuis que le sol avait été réhaussé, nous n'avions plus de porte.
The door of the bathroom has been shortened. Since the tiles had been applied, we didn't have a door anymore.



La porte de la cuisine a été rainée et je vais pouvoir enfin l'installer.
The door of the kitchen has been grooved and I will be finally able to install it.


Le lustre du salon a été monté. Peu de chose, mais le salon a bien meilleure allure.
The ceiling light of the living room has been installed. Nothing special, but the room looks better now.

Cuvée 2008 (3)

La vinification suit son cours. Après une fermentation alcoolique de huit jours, a eu lieu la décuvaison. Le jus a été soutiré et les éléments solides restants ont été pressés. Le tout a été remis en cuve pour une seconde fermentation qui devrait durer quelques jours: la fermentation malo-lactique.
The wine production is going on. After the alcoholic fermentation (about eight days), the juice has been taken out of the tank and the the rests of the grapes have been pressed. All the juice is again in the tank for a second fermentation which will last a few days: the malolactic fermentation.

Après avoir bataillé plusieurs jours, nous sommes venus à bout de la vieille tapisserie du grenier.
After a few days of work, we could finally get rid of the old wallpaper in the attic.


Les trous et fissures ont été rebouchés.
The holes and cracks have been filled in.


La première couche de peinture a été appliquées.
The first layer of paint has been applied.

Cuvée 2008 (3)

Ça fermente! La fermentation a eut du mal à démarrer et j'ai dû utiliser des levures et du sucre (3 kilos par hectolitre) pour enclencher le processus. Cela s'appelle la chaptalisation. Ce que vous voyez, c'est le bouchon que forme les morceaux de raisins poussés vers le haut par la fermentation. Dessous, le jus bouillonne. Un peu.
It's fermenting! The fermentation didn't start very well and I had to use yeast (Hefe) and sugar (3 Kilos per Hectolitre!) to help the process. This addition is normal and called chaptalisation . All the pieces of grapes are pushed on the top of the bucket due to the fermentation. Below, the juice is fermenting and bubbling. A little.
